Family Crime in Gaza

Two Palestinians from the Gaza Strip were shot dead this morning on the background of a family dispute in Nusairat area. Until the issuance of this Press Release, the Palestinian Security Forces have closed the area the suspected murders were arrested.

On early hours of this morning, 27th August 1998, both Mohammed Al-Khaldi, 30 year old from Dair el-Balah, and his brother, Majdi Al-Khaldi, 32, officer of the Palestinian General Intelligence, were shot dead by members of Abu Sultan family. Two persons of the suspected murders were reported to be members of the Palestinian Security Forces.

The PCHR while condemns this crime, calls upon the PNA to take necessary measures within the rule of law to punish the murderers. PCHR reiterates its demands to the PNA to control the trend of militarisation and the arbitrary use of weapons by individuals working for the Palestinian Security Forces. PCHR believes that this trend is a source of danger and threat for the civil life and undermines the safety of Palestinian citizens.
