Facebook Administration has verified the official page of the Palestinian Center for Human rights (PCHR): https://www.facebook.com/pchrgaza/ with the blue tick mark  ( the verification mark) next to the name of PCHR’s page on the most commonly used website in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

The social media has become one of the most important access means used worldwide to reach the public. PCHR has accelerated to use this effective mean by creating pages on the social media websites such as: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube in both Arabic and English Languages to reach the biggest number of public both locally and internationally.

PCHR created the Facebook page in 2010 and used it to publish the activities and launch campaigns that target vital issues in order to defend human rights and draw attention to human rights violations committed by the Israeli or Palestinian Authorities in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip.

The importance of this mark, which is only placed for official pages, lies in the fact that it prevents the distortion attempts via creating fake pages using PCHR’s name. The verification also raise confidence in PCHR’s official page and the followers become confident that it is the official page of PCHR. This mark further helps PCHR to protect the page from hacking or shutdown, which helps in access to the most biggest number of followers in order to raise awareness, promote PCHR’s activities and launch campaigns on the local and international levels.
