The course focused on topics that fit with the needs of the target group, including: introduction to human rights, the International Bill of Human Rights (the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights and the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights; and the two Additional Protocols), Political Participation; Convention on Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women; principle of rule of law and Independence of Judiciary; and basic concepts in international humanitarian law.

At the end of the course, PCHR organized a closing ceremony where Abdul Halim Abu Samra, Head of Training Unit, emphasized that this training course is part of PCHR’s long-term efforts to promote the culture of human rights among graduates and university students. PCHR aims to raise their awareness on their legal rights to create a society and generation fully aware and capable of defending their fundamental rights and freedoms. He added that PCHR would always welcome new participants, urging them to transfer what they learned in the course to their peers for the interest of promoting human rights culture.

At the beginning of his speech, Mr. Mohsen Abu Ramadan, Director of Dr. Haider Abdel Shafi’s Center for Culture and Development, thanked PCHR for its pioneering role in disseminating and promoting the culture of human rights. He highlighted the continued cooperation with PCHR and its important service to the Palestinian society’s popular knowledge on human rights, which contributes to creating real change in popular attitudes.

The attendees emphasized that the course was rich and contributed to raising their awareness of human rights; they also praised trainers’ efficiency and use of interactive training methods.

At the end of the course, all participants received completion certificates.
