Between 23 and 27 April 2017, the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) hosted a delegation from al-Quds Association for Solidarity with the People in Arab Countries, which is one of PCHR’s Partners.  The delegation was comprised of Eva Nieto Aragon, Vice President of al-Quds, and Javier Diaz Muriana, Technical Project Manager at al-Quds.

The Spanish delegation met with Raji Sourani, PCHR’s Director, in light of the continued partnership between PCHR and al-Quds Association and to review PCHR’s efforts, particularly the cooperation between PCHR and its partners.  During the meeting, Sourani addressed the human rights situation in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt), including the Israeli illegal closure imposed on the Gaza Strip for the 10th consecutive year and its impact on Palestinians’ daily life.  As part of the partnership, the delegation met with Directors of PCHR’s units and some beneficiaries of direct services provided by PCHR, including legal aid.

PCHR conducted a field trip for the visiting delegation to the Access Restricted Areas (ARA) in the eastern Gaza Strip in order to be acquainted with the violations against the Palestinian civilians living in houses there, including demolished ones.  The delegation also visited the areas along the Egyptian-Palestinian borders in the southern Gaza Strip.

Moreover, the delegation met during its visit with ‘Issa Saba, Director of Canaan Instute of New Pedagogy, which is also al-Quds Association’s partner.  Saba reviewed Canaan’s activities and programs.

On Thursday morning, the visiting delegation left the Gaza Strip to Ramallah in order to hold further meetings with other partners.
