Yesterday morning, a civilian from old ‘Askar refugee camp in Nablus was killed by unknown persons. This incident is part of the state of proliferation of weapons and assault on the rule of law in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), at approximately 01:45 on Tuesday, 08 March 2016, Yehia Zakaria Abdul Raheem al-Salman (47), from old ‘Askar refugee camp, northeast of Nablus, was admitted to Rafidiya Hospital in the city, as he was hit with over 10 live bullets to the lower legs. As a result, he suffered laceration in both legs. In the morning, medical sources at Rafidiya Hospital pronounced him dead.
The Palestinian police arrived at the hospital and opened an investigation.
According to a statement issued by Fatah movement in old ‘Askar refugee camp, 3 persons from Balatah refugee camp were accused of being involved in the killing of the aforementioned person.
PCHR stresses that the killing of al-Salman is part of the state of proliferation of weapons and assault on the rule of law in the oPt, and calls upon the Attorney General to seriously investigate the incident, publish the investigation’s results and prosecute the perpetrators.
