PCHR Creates Page on Social Media for “Lighting Gaza” Campaign

Ref: 05/2016

The Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR) created a Facebook page and Twitter account as part of the “Lighting Gaza” advocacy campaign. This campaign was launched at the beginning of this year to pressurize the decision-makers to adopt mechanisms that guarantee fair and efficient management of the power crisis.

Creating the Facebook page for the campaign comes after a series of preparatory activities implemented by PCHR, including collecting information about the crisis, making interviews with decision-makers and holding meetings with power experts in the Gaza Strip. Those preparations also aimed to come up with recommendations that guarantee the fair and efficient management of the power crisis and hard working to solve it.

PCHR implements the campaign; the first phase continues until the end of April, in cooperation with many grassroots associations in the Gaza Strip. The campaign comes in light of the aggravating power crisis that paralyzed all aspects of life in the Gaza Strip.

This joint campaign comes as a part of “Promoting Human Rights and Freedom of Access to Information in the occupied Palestinian territory(oPt)” project that is funded by the European Union EU.
