PCHR Publishes Annual Report 2006

PCHR has published its Annual Report 2006, as it has done annually since 1997. PCHR has also published a summary of the report focusing on the human rights situation in the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT).

The report covers the period from 1 January to 31 December 2006. In addition to the summary and the recommendations to the Palestinian National Authority (PNA) and the international community, the report includes two main sections.

The first section provides a comprehensive picture of the human rights situation in OPT in 2006. It is divided into two sub-sections: Violations of international human rights and humanitarian law perpetrated by the Israeli Occupation Forces in the OPT; and Human rights violations perpetrated by the PNA and obstacles to democratic reform.

The second section of the report documents all PCHR’s activities in 2006, including activities of its units; meetings with visiting delegations and figures; interviews with the media; and publications.

Like in previous years, PCHR has started to circulate copies of the report and its summary.

PCHR’s Annual Report provides a comprehensive picture of the human rights situation in the OPT. It also serves as a guide for PCHR’s future work and also reflects PCHR’s strong belief in the importance of transparency for a non-profit, non-governmental organization that provides services to the community.

Note: Copies of the report can be obtained from PCHR’s main office in Gaza and branch offices in Khan Yunis, Jabalya and Ramallah.
