The Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) offers its sincere congratulates to our colleagues at Al-Haq and its Director, Shawan Jabarin, for receiving the Gwynne Skinner Human Rights Award. This award is granted by the International Corporate Accountability Roundtable (ICAR) to an individual or organization that has made a significant contribution to corporate accountability. Al-Haq Association received the award this year for its work in the field of corporate accountability for human rights and international law violations in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt).

Al-Haq is the mother organization for the Palestinian human rights movement, and it has a pioneering role, on the Palestinian and regional levels, in obliging businesses to respect human rights and prosecute international corporations that violate human rights in the oPt.

The awarding of this prestigious international award to Al-Haq, confirms the justice of our cause and our struggle against an obliterating occupation regime; including the work towards accountability for international companies that support the occupation, whether through their work in illegal settlements in the oPt or with Israeli occupation forces (IOF) or otherwise. Al-Haq won this award with merit.

This honor and support for the work of Palestinian human rights organizations is well appreciated, especially that it comes at a time where Palestinian HROs are under a fierce attack and a systemic smear campaign by the Israeli State and government-funded extremist right-wing organizations that aim at discrediting human rights organizations.

At PCHR, we are very proud of Al-Haq’s work and achievements and wish them more success for the service of the Palestinian people’s cause.
