Raji Sourani, Director of the Palestinian Center for Human Rights (PCHR), presented his resignation letter to the Board of Trustees in the Arab Organization for Human Rights (AOHR), apologizing for his inability to hold two positions at once as Director of PCHR and the President of AOHR’s Board of Trustees.
Sourani explained that the latest developments related to prosecuting the Israeli war criminals and bringing them to the international justice, mainly the International Criminal Court (ICC), is a noble mission that requires him to focus all his effort and time on this issue. Sourani highlighted that his colleagues in the AOHR and Board of Trustees were fully understanding regarding the resignation decision.
Sourani hoped that AOHR would continue performing its duties, as Sourani and the Arab nations have always believed so, and never compromise its very principles as a first Arab organization. Moreover, Sourani demanded the AOHR to keep going through its persistent struggle in the field of democracy, the rule of law and human rights in the Arab World in spite of the present situation in the region that is full of injustice, oppression, murder, destruction and violation of freedoms in an unprecedented manner.
