PCHR Condemns Injury of 61 Persons in attack on Wedding Party in Khan Yunis
On Tuesday, 21 July 2009, a wedding party of the Dahlan family in Khan Younis was attacked when an explosive device exploded in the area; 61 civilians were injured.
According to investigations conducted by the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR), at around 23:45 on Tuesday, 21 July 2009, a large explosion occurred beneath a stage in the wedding party of Mahmoud Dahlan, 25. 61 civilians were wounded; 42 were transferred to Nasser Hospital, the other 19 were transferred to the European Hospital, Gaza.
The Department of Public Relations in the Khan Yunis police told PCHR that they found a second home-made explosive device which had failed to explode.
PCHR condemns the attack and calls upon the Government in Gaza to investigate the crime, which is part of the ongoing state of security chaos, and to bring the perpetrators to justice.
