On Thursday, 08 July 2021, the Palestinian Centre for Human Rights (PCHR) concludes a training day on “Capacity Building of Child’s Rights Organizations in Developing Child Safeguarding Polices”. The training was attended by 30 female and male participants representing 30 child’s rights organizations in the Gaza Strip, and aims at strengthening and building the capacity of child’s rights organizations in preparing and developing child protection policies.
This training day comes within a project on “strengthening child participation in monitoring his rights, writing reports and accountability for children’s right,” which is implemented by PCHR and funded by Sweden’s government agency for development cooperation (Sida) in partnership with Save the Children-Sweden and in coordination with child’s rights organizations and parents’ councils.
Abdul Halim Abu Samra, Head of PCHR’s Training Unit, opened the training, stressing that this training enhances cooperation and networking between PCHR and child’s rights organizations. He added that through this training, PCHR aims to empower Community Based Organizations (CBOs) in the field of preparing papers for developing child protection polices in compatible with the approach based on respecting human rights in general and child’s right in particular. Abu Samra calls for expanding social engagement between PCHR and child’s rights organizations to create a community that supports Palestinian Child’s rights.
It should be noted that this training will be followed by a series of meetings and visits with child’s rights organizations in order to prepare and develop child protection polices papers in compatible with the child rights approach and in consistent with its work.
