Since the Beginning of the Israeli Offensive on Gaza:
1,324 Palestinians Killed, of Whom 1,130 Are Civilians, Including 328 Children and 177 Women, and 5,924 Others Wounded, Mostly Civilians, Including 1,634 Children and 1,169 Women;
648 Houses Targeted and Destroyed and Hundreds of Others Extensively Damaged
Israeli occupation forces have continued their brutal and immoral offensive on the Gaza Strip for the 23rd consecutive day, and have continued the policy of collective punishment in disregard for the international law and humanitarian law, which ensure protection for civilians in times of war, and in violation of the principles of necessity, proportionality and distinction. Israeli forces have continued their aerial, ground and sea attacks throughout the Gaza Strip, causing more civilian casualties and damaging civilian facilities. Israeli forces escalated their attacks throughout the Gaza Strip. They attacked civilians, houses and other civilian facilities. Overnight, Israeli forces violently attacked houses and civilians. Israeli tanks shelled an UNRWA shelter for forcibly displaced civilians in Jabalya refugee camp. As a result 15 civilians were killed and dozens of others were wounded. This has been the second attack of its kind since the beginning of the Israeli offensive. As a result of bombarding fuel tanks of Gaza Power Plant, the plant was completely paralyzed and electricity supplies were cut from large areas in the Gaza Strip. Municipalities face extreme difficulties in their work due to the lack of fuel supplies and because if Israeli attacks. These developments raise concerns regarding public health in Gaza Strip, which is one of the most densely populated areas in the world. The crisis has further aggravated as at least 400,000 civilians were forcibly displaced from their homes, and were forced to resort to shelters in the centers of towns and refugee camps.
PCHR field workers have been unable to collect information from border areas in the Gaza Strip, because the situation is extremely dangerous in these areas. The following details are based on the information which the field workers have been able to collect.
From 10:00 on Tuesday, 29 July 2014 to 10:00 on Wednesday, 30 July 2014, according to what PCHR has been able to document, 102 Palestinians, 98 of whom are civilians, including 31 children and 18 women, were killed, and 580 others, including 31 children and 18 women, were wounded. Medical crews were able to recover the bodies of 49 Palestinian civilians, including 18 children and 12 women. Eight Palestinians, 7 of whom are civilians, including 3 children, died of previous wounds. Additionally, Israeli warplanes destroyed 38 houses and 4 houses.
The latest developments since the press release issued by PCHR yesterday noon have been as follows:
The Northern Gaza Strip:
Israeli forces launched 26 airstrikes while Israeli tanks and gunboats fired dozens of artillery shells targeting houses and civilian facilities, including schools, mosques and banks. As a result of these attacks, 46 Palestinian civilians, including 20 children, 10 women, an UNRWA worker and a firefighter, were killed, and 388 others, including 135 children and 93 women, were wounded. Israeli warplanes also targeted and destroyed 9 houses, 2 mosques and a factory of concrete.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
- At approximately 16:10 on Tuesday, 29 July 2014, Israeli tanks fired many shells at al-Qassasin neighborhood in Jabalya. As a shell hit a house belonging to Na’im Nazmi Mohammed Balata, 45, killing him; his wife, Sahar Motawe’ Mohammed Balata, 39; his daughter: Miriam, 24, Israa’, 13, Do’aa’, 22, Hana’, 19; Wafa’, 21; Alaa’, 14; his son Yahia, 4; and his niece, Hadeel ‘Abdul Karim Balata, 17. The house and a number of neighboring houses were extensively damaged. Additionally, 41 civilians, including 17 children and 5 women, were wounded.
- At the same time, Israeli tanks fired shells at Be’r al-Na’ja area in Jabalya. A number of shells hit a number of houses. In the meantime, Moneer Ibrahim Mohammed al-Hajjar, 38, an UNRWA social worker, attempted to leave the area. He was accompanied by his son, Ibrahim, 5, and his brother, Basheer, 48. Once they got into an UNRWA car and travelled for a few meters, a shell landed near the car, killing Moneer and Basheer and wounding the child. A number of shells also hit houses in the area. As a result, Mohammed ‘Abdul Nasser Mohammed al-Ghandour, 15, and Joud Yousef Abu ‘Eida, 8 months, were killed. The toddler’s mother was seriously wounded. Additionally, 10 civilians, including 5 children and 3 women, were wounded.
- At approximately 22:40, Israeli tanks fired dozens of shells at Gaza Old Street, al-Omari Mosque and al-Nuzha Street in Jabalya. As a result, 14 civilians were killed: Nihad Khalil Sa’id Hammouda, 38; and her children, Baraa’ and Halima Mohammed Hammouda, 6 and 1 respectively; Ka’enat ‘Aadel Hammouda, 40; her child Haneen Hussam al-Din Hammouda, 3; Majeda Jamal Hassan Hammouda, 50; Baraka Ibrahim Hassan ‘Abed Rabbu, 51; her sons, ‘Alaa’, Ibrahim and Mohammed Jamal ‘Abed Rabbu, 29, 21 and 25 respectively; Jamal Mohammed ‘Abed Rabbu, 1; Rahaf ‘Alaa’ ‘Abed Rabbu, 2; Halima Mohammed Ihsan al-Batash, 24; her child, ‘Aaya Ismail al-Batash; and Moammed Khader Musallam, 28 a firefighter who was trying to extinguish fire in the area. Additionally, 62 civilians, including 23 children and 12 women, were wounded.
- At approximately 05:15 on Wednesday, 30 July 2014, Israeli tanks fired 6 shells, 3 of which landed on Jabalya UNRWA Elementary School, known as Abu Hussein School, in Jabalya refugee camp, to which hundreds of forcibly displaced civilians resorted for shelter. One of the shells hit a classroom on the second floor, another one hit a tin-roofed classroom at the entrance of the school and the third one hit the toilettes. As a result of this attack, 15 civilians, including 5 children, were killed inside the school and 2 others were killed outside it: Lu’ai Talal al-Fairi, 34; Mohammed Mousa Mohammed Ghaben, 32; Ussama Mohammed Sahwil, 117; Ramdan Khader Salman, 23; ‘Alaa’ Khader Salman, 17; Jihad ‘Arafat ‘Abdul Dayem, 48; ‘Abdul Jalil Jihad ‘Arafat ‘Abdul Dayem, 14; ‘Ali Ahmed Shaheen, 16; ‘Aadel ‘Abdullah Qamar, 50; ‘Abdullah Midhat al-‘Aamoudi, 19; Bilal Midhat al-‘Aamoudi, 26; ‘Abdul Rahman Rami Barakat, 9; Shaher Khaled al-Najjar, 54; Bassem Khaled al-Najjar, 42; and 3 unidentified civilians. additionally, 153 civilians, including 69 children and 38 women, were wounded.
- Israeli warplanes also targeted and destroyed 9 houses, 2 mosques, a factory of concrete and a store of fruit. Artillery shells also hit the the building Palestine Islamic Banl in Jabalya.
Gaza City:
Israeli warplanes launched a series of airstrikes that targeted houses, flats, a bank, agricultural plots and open areas, while Israeli tanks and gunboats fired dozens of shells at the city. As a result of these attacks, 10 Palestinian civilians, including 3 children and 3 women, were killed, while 4 civilians, including 2 children, died of pervious wounds. Additionally, 30 civilians, including 18 children and 4 women, were wounded. Four houses, 6 flats, 2 mosques and a bank were destroyed.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
- At approximately 12:00 on Tuesday, 29 July 2014, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a flat belonging to Sami Zikri al-Gharabli on the 10th floor of Palestine building in al-Remal neighborhood. The flat was destroyed.
- At approximately 16:00, medical sources declared that Nada ‘Ezzu Fayeq al-Je’el, 2, died of wounds she had sustained in the morning, when an Israeli artillery shell hit her family’s house. Her grandmother was killed in the attack.
- At approximately 17:05, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 4-storey house belonging to the heirs of Ahmed Hamed Kuhail in Tal al-Hawa neighborhood. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missiles at the house and destroyed it.
- At approximately 17:30, an Israeli artillery shell hit a house belonging to the Abu ‘Arar family in al-Zaytoun neighborhood in the southeast of Gaza City. As a result, Fatema Mohammed Nemer ‘Abu ‘Arar, 24, was killed, and her sister’s limbs were cut.
- Also at approximately 17:30, Israeli tanks fired a number of shells at a house belonging to Mousa ‘Abdul Rahman Mohammed Abu Sawawin, 44, in al-Zaytoun neighborhood, killing him.
- At approximately 00:05 on Wednesday, 30 July 2014, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the building of Palestine Islamic Bank in Sheikh Radwan neighborhood and destroyed it.
- At approximately 00:15, an Israeli artillery shell hit a house belonging to the ‘Elwan family in Yafa Street in the east of Gaza City. As a result, Nojoud’Abdul Hakim Mohammed ‘Elwan, 11, who is physically disabled, was killed.
- At approximately 01:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Sameer Farahat in al-Shati refugee camp. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it.
- At approximately 03:00, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at Sheikh ‘Ejlin Mosque, and destroyed it.
- Also at approximately 03:00, Israeli warplanes bombarded and destroyed al-Sousi Mosque in al-Shati refugee camp.
- At approximately 04:30, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a flat belonging to Mohammed al-Haddad on the 5th floor of al-Siddiqin Building 2 in al-Jalaa’ Street. As a result of the attack, 4 floors of the 5-storey building were destroyed.
- At approximately 06:00, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a 5-storey house belonging to Zakria Robin al-Mazloum in al-Sabra neighborhood. The house was destroyed.
- At approximately 08:00, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a flat belonging to ‘Aahed ‘Afif Yousef Zaqqout, 49, on the 9th floor of the Italian Building in al-Nasser neighborhood. Zaqqout was killed.
- At approximately 08:30, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a 4-storey house belonging to Nafez Mohammed Fadel al-Nadeem in al-Sina’a Street. The house was destroyed.
- At approximately 09:00, a number of Israeli tanks shells landed on the yard of a house belonging to Mahmoud ‘Atallah Sa’id al-Khalili in al-Tuffah neighborhood in the east of Gaza City, while members of the family were having breakfast. Al-Khalili and all members of his family were killed: Ashrag Mahmoud ‘Atallah al-Khalil, 37; his wifee Nida’ Ziad Ahmed al-Khalili, 28; their children: Ziad, 3, and Dima, 4; Ahmed Mahmoud ‘Atallah al-Khalili, 27; his wife Aya Mohammed Yousef al-Khalili, 23, pregnant; and their child, Lama, 5. The only survivor was Mahmoud Ashraf al-Khalili, 7, who was seriously wounded.
- At approximately 09:30, medical sources declared that Ussama Ahmed ‘Abdul Raziq al-Hilu, 5, died of wounds he had sustained when a shell landed on a road in al-Shati refugee camp on the first day of the Eid al-Futur.
- In the morning, medical sources at Shifa Hospital declared that IbrahimYasser Hamad, 19, and ‘Ali ‘Abdul ‘Aziz Siam, 22, died of previous wounds.
The Central Gaza Strip:
Israeli warplanes launched 6 airstrikes and tanks fired dozens of shells at agricultural plots, open areas and houses. As a result of these attacks, 5 Palestinian civilians, including 2 women and a child, were killed, and 47 others, including 19 children and 9 women, were wounded. Medical crews also recovered bodies of 6 women and 2 children from the debris of 2 houses that had been completely destroyed. Additionally, 4 houses were destroyed.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
- At approximately 15:00 on Tuesday, 29 July 22014, Israeli tanks fired a number of shells at al-Boreij refugee camp. One of the shells hit a house belonging to Khalil Jebril Jebril, killing his son, Marwan, 40, and Mohammed Abu ‘Emad Hamda, 21.
- At approximately 15:10, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Khaled Talab Shaheen, in which 11 people live. As a result, 4 civilians, including 2 children, were wounded.
- At approximately 15:30, medical sources declared that Fareed Mohammed Ahmed, 51, died of previous wounds.
- At approximately 21:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a flat in al-Safa building in al-Nussairat refugee camp. As a result, ‘Aisha Salama Abu ‘Eid, 27, was killed in a neighboring houses, and another 14 civilians, including 6 children and 2 women, were wounded.
- Also at approximately 21:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Hassan Ismail al-Qudairi, 67, in which 11 people live, in al-Nussairat refugee camp. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it.
- In the evening, medical crews recovered the bodies of Hala Ahmed Abu Jaber, 9, and Sumaya Ahmed Abu Jaber, 28, from the debris of their house that was attacked by Israeli forces in al-Boreij refugee camp. Sixteen civilians were killed in the attack.
- Medical crews also recovered the bodies of 5 women and a child from the debris of a house belonging to the al-Far family that was destroyed by Israeli forces on the previous day. They were identified as: Hanan Salem al-Far, 15; Amal Salem al-Far, 28; Nivin Salem al-Far, 18; Fatema Hassan al-Far, 55; Zinat Hassan al-Far, 50; and Riham Hussein al-Far, 24.
- At approximately 00:30 on Wednesday, 30 July 2014, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Faraj Miqdad, in which 20 people live, in al-Boreij refugee camp. As a result, Asmaa’ ‘Abdul Halim Abu al-Kas, 15, was killed, and another 22 civilians, including 10 children and 6 women.
- At approximately 02:00, medical sources declared that a member of a Palestinian armed group died from a previous wound he had sustained by an Israeli airstrike.
- At approximately 04:30, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Mohammed ‘Ezzat Fathi Abu Swaireh, 32, in which 8 people live, in al-Zawaida village. The house was completely destroyed and Abu Swaireh was killed.
- At approximately 09:25, an Israeli drone fired a missile near a house belonging to Ahmed Mahmoud al-Zurai’ei in Deir al-Balah. As a result, Eftikhar Mohammed al-Zurai’ei, 52, was killed and the house’s owner was seriously wounded.
Khan Yunis:
Israeli warplanes launched 41 airstrikes and tanks and gunboats fired dozens of shells at Palestinian civilians and property in Khan Yunis. As a result of these attacks, 26 Palestinians, 25 of whom are civilians, including 4 children and a woman, were killed, and a child died of a previous wound. An old man died also of a heart attack as Israeli warplane bombarded a nearby house. Additionally, 80 Palestinians, including 25 children and 18 women, were wounded. Seven houses were also bombarded, and 5 of them were destroyed.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
- At approximately 10:00 on Tuesday morning, 29 July 2014, medical crews were able to recover more bodies of victims who were killed when Israeli warplanes bombarded and destroyed an 4-storey apartment building belonging to Karam Moammed al-Dali in the center of Khan Yunis, which was bombarded by Israeli warplanes in the early morning:
• 19 members of the Abu ‘Aamer family: Waddah Hassan Ahmed Abu ‘Aamer, 39, a leader of the Democratic Front for the Liberation of Palestine; ‘Orouba Suleiman Ahmed Abu ‘Aamer, 41; ‘Omar Waddah Hassan Abu ‘Aamer, 12, ‘Abdul Ghani Waddah Hassan Abu ‘Aamer, 11; ‘Emad Waddah Hassan Abu ‘Aamer, 10; ‘Eissa Waddah Hassan Abu ‘Aamer, 8; ‘Izziddin Waddah Hassan Abu ‘Aamer, 4; Ahmed and Mohammed Hassan Abu ‘Aamer, 36 and 20 respectively; Ahmed Suleiman Ahmed Abu ‘Aamer, 24; Mona Hajjaj Ibrahim Abu ‘Aamer, 41; and her 5 children: Mohammed, 12; Marah, 10; Yasser, 9; Marwa, 5; and Suleiman, 2.
• 4 members of the al-Najjar family, including a child: Aya, Do’a’, Wa’el and Jameel Ahmed al-Najjar, 19, 118, 23, 18 and 25; and Layali Wa’el Jameel al-Najjar, 2. On the previous day, bodies of Ahmed al-Najjar, 45, Walaa’ Ahmed al-Najjar, 23, and Mohammed Ahmed al-Najjar, had been recovered.
• 5 members of the Buraika family: Fayez Ahmed Mahmoud Buraika, 55; his wife Subhiya Mo’nes Mahmoud Buraika, 59; and their children: Ahmed, 22; Lama and Ussama, 16. On the previous day, the bodies of two children were also recovered: Jana and Lama Ahmed Fayez Buraika, 3 and 1 respectively.
• 4 members of the Mo’ammar family: Ahmed Marzouq Nadi Mo’ammar, 33; his 2 children: Hala, 1; and Yazan, 3; and his sister Hind, 30. His wife was also seriously wounded.
- In the morning, medical crews recovered bodies of 6 members of the al-Agha family, including a woman and a child, from the debris of two houses in Ma’an area: Nariman Khalil Yousef al-Agha, 39; Eyad Nader ‘Ata al-Agha, 16; ‘Abdul Hamid Fadel al-Agha, 24; ‘Ata Majdi ‘Ata al-Agha, 24; Ahmed Hassan Mustafa al-Agha, 55; and Mustafa Hassan Mustafa al-Agha, 30.
- Medical sources declared that Ibtissam ‘Abdul Samee’ Harb al-Najjar, 21, died of a previous wounds she sustained when Israeli warplanes bombarded her house in the morning. Medical crews also recovered the body of Maisaa’ ‘Abdul Samee’ Mousa al-Najjr, 18, from the debris of their house. The bodies of her husband, Jihad Ibrahim al-Najjar, and his child, Mona, 1, had been already recovered.
- At approximately 11:40, Israeli aircrafts dropped flyers ordering the populations of the eastern villages of Khan Yunis to leave their homes and moved towards the center of the town.
- At approximately 13:00, an Israeli warplane fired a missile at ‘Emad Fayez Suleiman Qudaih, 24, while he was on his way to his house in ‘Abassan village, east of Khan Yunis. He was instantly killed.
- At approximately 13:30, medical sources in Jerusalem declared that Zaher al-Najjar, 7, died of previous wounds during the Israeli offensive.
- At approximately 13:40, Israeli warplanes launched 2 airstrikes at the vicinity of al-Nour Mosque in Gizan al-Najjar in the south of Khan Yunis.
- At approximately 14:00, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at al-Qubba Mosque in al-Mawasi area in the west of Khan Yunis. The mosque was damaged.
- At approximately 15:15, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Yousef Quffa in Khan Yunis refugee camp. The house and a neighboring house belonging to the Enshassi family were damaged, and 3 civilians were wounded.
- At approximately 16:30, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a house belonging to Hassan Abu Khadija in Bani Suhaila village and destroyed it. Three neighbors were wounded.
- Also at approximately 16:30, an Israeli warplane launched a missile as a poultry farm in Bani Suhaila village, and destroyed it.
- At approximately 16:45, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Ahmed Hassan ‘Abdul Ghafour, in which 8 people live. The house was destroyed and 7 civilians, including a child, were wounded.
- At approximately 17:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a number of Palestinian civilians in al-Manara neighborhood. As a result, 2 civilians were killed: Mos’ab Ahmed Mousa Eslayeh, 17; and ‘Ali Mohammed Mahmoud Abu Ma’rouf, 23. Another 4 civilians were also wounded.
- At approximately 18:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a motor cart in Bani Suhaila. As a result, 4 Palestinian civilians, including 2 children, were killed: Mohammed Shawqi Mustafa Abu Hammad, 26; Ahmed Ismail Mohammed Abu Hammad, 31; Mohammed Mustafa Ismail Abu Hammad, 14; and Muhannad Ashraf Ismail al-Qarra, 17.
- At approximately 19:10, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a number of Palestinians in al-Satar al-Gharbi area. As a result, a member of Palestinian armed group was killed.
- At approximately 19:55, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 3-storey house belonging to Maher Fayeq Shuabir, in which 17 people live, in Saladin Street in Khan Yunis. Soon after, an Israeli warplane fired a missile at the house an destroyed it.
- At approximately 22:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a number of Palestinian civilians in al-Satar al-Gharbi area. As a result 2 civilians were killed: Fahed Mahmoud al-Agha, 24; and Ahmed ‘Abdul Sattar al-‘Abadla, 21.
- At approximately 01:00 on Wednesday, 30 July 2014, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a house belonging to Shadi Shu’aib al-‘Odiani, I which 8 people live, in al-Satar al-Gharbi area. The house was destroyed.
- At approximately 03:15, an Israeli drone fired 2 missiles at the al-Astal family council in al-Satar al-Gharbi area. As a result, 10 members of the family were killed: ‘Ali Mahmoud ‘Ali al-Astal, 23; Khaled Saleem Mohammed al-Astal, 24; Mohammed Saleem al-Astal, 26; Ramzi Ibrahim al-Astal, 18; ‘Ouda Ahmed al-Astal, 23; Ahmed Mahmoud Suleiman al-Astal, 27; Ahmed Ibrahim ‘Ali al-Astal, 23; Ahmed Mahmoud al-Astal, 27; Ahmed Ibrahim al-Astal, 23; Khalil Ibrahim al-Astal, 22; ‘Izziddin Mohammed Jaber al-Astal, 18; and Mohammed Mahmoud al-Astal, 25.
- In the morning, medical sources declared that Ahmed Mohammed al-Majadia, 30, died of previous wounds during the Israeli offensive.
- Overnight and in the morning, Israeli tanks fired dozens of shells at al-Zanna, al-Qarara and al-Satar al-Gharbi areas.
- At approximately 18:25, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Mohammed Salah al-Reqeb in Bani Suhaila village. As a result, 4 Paletsinian children were wounded.
- At approximately 06:35, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a the roof of al-Farra building in the center of Khan Yunis.
- At approximately 07:15, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a house belonging to ‘Othman Mustafa al-‘Abadla and destroyed it.
- At approximately 08:50, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Bani Suhial. As a result, ‘Omar ‘Awadh al-Buraim, 20, was killed.
- At approximately 09:00, Israeli warplanes fired 2 missiles at a number of Palestinian civilians in Bani Suhaila village, east of Khan Yunis. As a result, 4 civilians were killed: ‘Abdul ‘Aziz Hosni Abu Hajras, 28; Jihad Salah al-Buraim, 28; Mohammed Suleiman al-Qarra, 28; and Kamal Mohammed al-Buraim, 58.
- Also at approximately 09:00, due to violent Israeli shelling near his house in Bani Suhaila village, Kamal Mohammed al-Buraim, 57, died of a heart attack.
Rafah:
Israeli warplanes launched 19 airstrikes and Israeli tanks and gunboats fired dozens of shells targeting houses, a police station, agricultural plots and open area. As a result of these attacks, 15 Palestinians, 12 of whom are civilians, including 3 children and 2 women, were killed. Additionally, 35 others, including 5 children and 9 women, were wounded. Nine houses were also destroyed. Medical crews were able to recover bodies of 4 members of the Duahir family, while they continued to search for another 7 members of the family under the debris of their house.
The most significant attacks were as follows:
- At approximately 10:40 on Wednesday, 29 July 2014, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Baha’ al-Din Kamel al-Ghareeb, 58, and his child, Hala, 16, near their house in al-Zohour neighborhood in the north of Rafah. Both of them were killed.
- At approximately 12:05, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Wajiha ‘Obaida al-Bayoumi in Tal al-Sultan neighborhood in the west of Rafah. the house was destroyed and 3 civilians were wounded.
- At approximately 13:30, medical sources declared that Bilal Ahmed al-Hashash, 25, died of wound he stained a few hours later when Israeli warplanes bombarded his family’s house. Seven members of the family were killed in the attack.
- At approximately 13:55, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a police station at Rafah beach. The station was destroyed and 2 women were wounded.
- At approximately 14:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Ayman Sameer Qishta, 30, and Ismail Saheen Shaheen, 27, in al-Salam neighborhood in the south of Rafah. Both of them were killed.
- At approximately 15:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Jumai’an ‘Ouda Abu Shalouf, 21, who was in a poultry farm in al-Nasser village, northeast of Rafah. He was instantly killed and 3 others were wounded.
- At approximately 16:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at 3 Palestinian civilians who were traveling on a motorbike in al-Nasser village, northeast of Rafah. One civilian, Rami Suleiman al-‘Attar, 27, was killed, and the other two ones were seriously wounded.
- At approximately 17:00, medical sources declared that Mahmoud Mohammed Hammad, 78, died of wounds he sustained 10 hours earlier, when Israeli warplanes bombarded al-Shaboura refugee camp.
- At approximately 17:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a member of a Palestinian armed group in the northwest of Rafah, killing him instantly.
- At approximately 18:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to ‘Abdullah Lutfi al-Jazzar, in which 8 people live, in al-Junaina neighborhood in Rafah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it. A number of nearby houses were damaged and Wissam ‘Abdullah Abu Jazar, 13, was wounded.
- At approximately 18:20, rescue teams recovered bodies of 4 members of the Duhair family whose house was bombarded in the morning: Reem ‘Abdul Basset Duhair, 32; Mo’men ‘Omar Duhair, 9; Ghaida’ ‘Omar Duhair, 7; and ‘Ola Mahmoud Duhair, 19. They continued to search for the bodies of another 7 members of the family.
- At approximately 18:30, an Israeli drone fired a missile at an uninhabited house belonging to Nasrallah Zayed Qeshta in Qeshta neighborhood in the south of Rafah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it. Two civilians were wounded.
- At approximately 21:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at an uninhabited house belonging to Yasser Hammas Duhair in Musabbeh neighborhood in the north of Rafah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it.
- At approximately 21:05, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a number of Palestinian civilians in al-Sho’ut area in the south of Rafah. As a result, Jamal Ramadan Lafi, 50, was killed.
- At approximately 22:00, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a 2-storey house belonging to Ahmed Mohammed al-Bayoumi, in which 12 people live, in Musabbeh neighborhood in the north of Rafah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it.
- At approximately 23:05, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Jameel Zuhdi Jaber, in which 9 people live, in Yebna refugee camp in the south of Rafah. A few minutes later, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at the house and destroyed it.
- At approximately 00:30 on Thursday, 30 July 2014, an Israeli drone fired a missile at Waleed Shihda Mo’ammar, 51, when he was near his house in al-Nasser village, northeast of Rafah. He was instantly killed.
- At approximately 01:05, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at a house belonging to Kawthar Mohammed Abu Qamar, in which 6 people live, in Yebna refugee camp in the south of Rafah. The house as destroyed and 6 civilians were wounded.
- At approximately 02:30, an Israeli warplane launched a missile at an under-construction house belonging to Mohammed Kamel al-Masri in al-Nasser village, northeast of Rafah. The house was destroyed, and 2 members of a Palestinian armed group who were inside the house were killed. Five persons were also wounded.
- At approximately 14:45, an Israeli drone fired a missile at a house belonging to Sameer Mohammed Farahat in Ral al-Sultan neighborhood in the west of Rafah. The house was damaged, and a Palestinian civilian was wounde.
PCHR reiterates condemnation, expresses utmost concern for these crimes, and:
1) Warns of deterioration of the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip in light of this continuous Israeli military escalation, threats to expand military operations, and the continued tightened closure of the Gaza Strip;
2) Calls upon the international community to act immediately to stop these crimes, and renews the call to the High Contracting Parties of the Fourth Geneva Convention to fulfill their obligation under Article 1 of the Convention to ensure that it is respected at all times, and their responsibilities under Article 146 to pursue perpetrators of serious violations of the Convention, which are determined in Article 147, which lists violations of the Convention amounting to war crimes; and
3) Calls for establishing a UN fact-finding mission to investigate suspected war crimes committed by Israeli forces against Palestinian civilians in the Gaza Strip, and take necessary steps to prosecute responsible for them.
