PCHR Condemns Attack on PNA Attorney-General
PCHR utterly condemns an attack in Ramallah against
Palestinian National Authority (PNA) Attorney-General (AG), Mr. Ahmad
El-M’Ghani. This morning, Tuesday 8 July, unknown assailants planted an
explosive device in Ahmed El-M’ghan’s car, which subsequently exploded.
According to PCHR preliminary investigations, which
include a statement from the Attorney General, at approximately 7:30 am
on 8 July, Ahmad El-M’Ghani climbed into his car, which was parked in
his private garage in the Masyoun district of Ramallah. When he started
the engine, a strong explosion rocked the car. El-M’Ghani immediately
escaped from the car. Security forces arrived to investigate the
circumstances of the explosion. The police investigation so far
indicates that an explosive device was planted in the back of the car,
and subsequently exploded, destroying the car.
PCHR strongly condemns this attack, which is a
continuation of the security chaos and attack on the rule of law
currently plaguing the Occupied Palestinian Territory (OPT). The Centre
calls upon the PNA to immediately investigate this crime, and prosecute
the perpetrators.
