On
Tuesday, 11 December 2007, PCHR started the 3rd in a series of
training courses organized in cooperation with UNRWA Education Department,
represented by the Human Rights Programme.
The
course, in which 26 directors and deputy directors of school are participating,
will last for 4 days. It is being held at Nussairat Female Preparatory School in
the central Gaza Strip.
The
course covers a variety of human rights topics, including the International Bill
of Human Rights (Universal Declaration of Human Rights; Covenant on Economic,
social, and cultural rights; and Covenant on Civil and Political Rights);
Convention on the Rights of the Child; conflict resolution and student
mediation; democracy and student parliaments; and incorporation of human rights
in school curricula.
The
training is conducted by a number of specialized trainers who use various
training techniques.
This
course is organized in the context of fruitful cooperation between PCHR and
UNRWA for the 5th consecutive year. PCHR, in cooperation with UNRWA
Human Rights Officer, annually organizes a number of training courses on human
rights, democracy and student conflict resolution for school staff.
PCHR
receives at its offices dozens of student parliaments of UNRWA schools
throughout the Gaza Strip. It also delivers dozens of lectures at schools for
students parents.
